摘要:The first direct detection of gravitational wave signal GW150914 marked the era of gravitational wave astronomy. Since then LIGO and Virgo have been detecting gravitational wave events regularly. The unprecedented observation of binary neutron star merger GW170817 with its electromagnetic counterpart NGC4993 pushed our exploration of the Universe further into the era of multi-messenger astronomy. The observations of compact binary system mergers and the confrontation of general relativity with these observations have enabled us to probe and learn much fundamental physics and new cosmology. With improved sensitivity, more ground-based detectors, and space-based detectors in different frequency bands, it will be more promising for us to listen to and complement our picture of the Universe and its evolution.
